Trezor Login — Secure Access to Your Crypto Wallet
Use this guide to safely connect to your Trezor device and access your funds. This page covers the official login flow using Trezor Suite (desktop or web), passphrase usage, and best practices to keep your crypto secure.
Quick overview
Trezor hardware wallets store your private keys offline. “Logging in” to your wallet means connecting your physical device to a trusted application (Trezor Suite or compatible wallet), entering a PIN on the device, and, if used, providing an optional passphrase. Never enter your recovery seed or PIN into a website or share them with anyone.
Step-by-step: Secure Trezor login
- Open the official app: Visit Trezor Suite or open the installed desktop application. Always verify the URL and certificate before proceeding.
- Connect your device: Plug your Trezor into your computer or supported mobile device using the original cable. The device should display a welcome screen.
- Confirm the site: Trezor Suite will prompt you to confirm the connection. Verify the site name exactly matches the expected official domain and that your browser shows a valid TLS certificate.
- Enter your PIN on the device: Your Trezor will request a PIN entry. The PIN is entered using the device’s randomized on-screen keypad — this prevents keyloggers from capturing your input.
- (Optional) Enter a passphrase: If you use passphrase protection, enter the passphrase when prompted by Trezor Suite or on the device. A passphrase creates a hidden wallet — losing it means losing access, so store it securely.
- Access accounts: Once authenticated, view accounts and balances in Trezor Suite. For transactions, always confirm the destination address on your Trezor’s physical screen before approving.
Passphrase vs. Recovery Seed — know the difference
Recovery seed (12/18/24 words) is the master backup for your wallet. It can restore your keys on a new device. Keep it offline and private.
Passphrase is an optional extra secret that augments your recovery seed to create an additional hidden wallet. A passphrase can increase privacy and security but must be remembered exactly — there is no recovery for a lost passphrase.
Security best practices
- Always download Trezor Suite from trezor.io or open the web app at suite.trezor.io.
- Verify device packaging and firmware authenticity on first use.
- Never store your recovery seed digitally (no photos, cloud, or text files).
- Use a strong, unique PIN and consider enabling a hardware passphrase if you understand the tradeoffs.
- Confirm every transaction on the Trezor device display before approving.
Troubleshooting common login issues
Device not detected
Try a different USB cable, use a direct USB port (avoid hubs), and ensure you have the latest Trezor Bridge or Suite installed. Reboot your computer and reconnect.
PIN not accepted
Make sure you are entering the correct PIN on the device screen (the keypad is randomized). If you forget your PIN and exhaust attempts, the device may require a factory reset — you can still recover funds using your recovery seed on a new device.
Passphrase confusion
If you enabled a passphrase and cannot access expected accounts, you may be logged into a different hidden wallet or have mistyped the passphrase. Try variations (exact spelling, capitalization, spacing). If you do not have the passphrase, those funds are inaccessible.
